Electrifying Burwood - A community evening
14 November 2025
While Liberals in Canberra on Tuesday night were rubber stamping their brand of climate denialism, here in the real world we were at a community forum in Burwood on home electrification, organised by Climate Action Burwood Canada Bay (CABCB).
We were there at the magnificent Woodstock Community Centre to talk about solar, batteries, and how we can help households with quality installations. Ken Enderby of CABCB spoke of his personal electrification journey, and Robin Smith, also of CABCB, told us everything you need to know about induction cooking.
The questions asked are always a great insight into what people want to know, as we’re all learning fast about how the energy transition affects us.
“Is there a rebate for joining a virtual power plant?”
“How long do solar panels and batteries last”
“Can you use a wok with an induction cooktop?”
“Is there such a thing as an electric barbecue?”.
All questions and a whole lot more were answered!
The event audience.
"We were delighted by the numbers who came along," said CABCB President Ken Enderby. "The room was pretty much full, the audience seemed totally engaged with the information, and the questions and answers just kept coming. There's no question there's an appetite for these kinds of community events."
CABCB’s next “Go Electric” event will be at the Pavillion in Burwood Park on 5 February 2026, starting at 6pm.
Here at Inner West Community Energy, we’re still finalising our events calendar for 2026 but we will be holding a solar and battery night in February. Details soon!
