Happy Solar Family: Milton and Rosemary

Typically, it takes two to three months from start to finish for an Inner West household to go solar with a battery but, very occasionally, it can take longer.

This is the story of one that took over three years but was completed last November for Leichhardt residents Milton and Rosemary. *

“In May 2022 we enlisted the assistance of IWCE with a view to switching to solar energy. We wanted to go solar as a means of shielding us against rapidly rising power costs and to contribute to the transition from harmful coal-based energy to renewable energy.

“[IWCE project manager] Gav provided very professional advice and assessment of a proposal from their recommended installer.

“However an issue arose concerning unsuitability of electricity supply to our premises. This issue was outside of our control and the solar energy project had to be abandoned, much to our disappointment.

“Come mid-2025 and the issue was resolved and we again sought advice from IWCE which resulted in us acquiring an 8.55 kWh system and 13.44 kWh Battery. (Aiko panels, Enphase micro inverters, SigenStor battery).

“Their recommended installer, Guwing Green, was very professional in the installation process with owner Paul Trad always available to answer questions.

“Without the assistance of IWCE and Gavin we would have been totally at sea in trying to navigate the solar energy minefield.

“We are extremely happy with the outcome – energy costs have come way down. In fact our latest bill resulted in our being in credit with feed-in to the grid far exceeding grid imports.”
