Happy Solar Family: Andy and Karen of Rozelle
21 May 2025
Long-term Rozelle residents Andy and Karen* had been thinking about installing solar for quite some time.
“My Mum already has solar in Queensland and raves over it,” Karen says, “and did it in the very early days - 10, maybe 15 years ago.”
But it wasn’t until a whopping $900 power bill arrived last winter, combined with chatting to our chairperson Meloni Muir, who explained how we help Inner Westies install quality solar systems for a fair price, that Andy and Karen decided it was time to go solar.

“We’d been thinking about it for years but there was an alignment of stars,” Andy says.
Karen: “The other thing we were concerned about is that there might be cowboys out there. You don’t know what you’re getting.”
Andy: “The concern was to get a trustworthy installer.”
Karen: “And to get a gauge on price. Because we didn’t know how much it costs.”
They messaged us in mid March, and by mid-April they had a high-quality, 14-panel, 6.65-kilowatt system on the roof of their Rozelle timber cottage.
“The thing I’ve been surprised about,” Karen says, “is how nice it feels to have electricity that is environmentally friendly. That is just coming from your roof, that is not from coal-fired power. That’s been a revelation I didn’t expect.”
